Watt Stopper Ultrasonic Sensors are 24VDC changing devices that automatically change lighting and HEATING AND COOLING systems off when no movement is noticed over a given period. They pick up when an area is occupied and turn lights back on again. Watt Stopper ultrasonic occupancy sensing units utilize the doppler shift concept to spot occupancy. Movement in the regulated area triggers a slight change in the shown frequency and amplitude of the broadcast ultrasonic waves. Watt Stopper sensing units then manage lighting systems through Watt Stopper power and auxiliary relay packs. Placement of the sensor is crucial for appropriate operation. Watt Stopper sensing units are volumetric sensing units and sense motion in a 360 degree pattern. It is best to put the sensing unit so that it has a clear view of all the desktops or work surfaces within the protection area. Also, ultrasonic sensing units may false-trigger when faced by high volumes of air circulation. Sensors should be set up at least four feet from many supply ducts and a minimum of 6 feet from horizontal discharge ducts. In addition, do not install sensor within 6″ of power pack. Always mount the sensing unit on a stiff, vibration-free surface area. When positioning the sensor make sure the receiver is intended far from nearest wall and towards area to be covered.
